I was recently involved in a very philosophical discussion with an acquaintance. The subject covered the need for speaking with utmost care to the people closest to oneself. The argument 'Against' was that if someone is so close to you, you need not be careful in choosing words, you can be casual and impulsive.
My point was , as is clear now, that the ones who matter most to you are the ones you must be very very careful not to hurt.
But the fact in life is otherwise.
The ones we love the most, we hurt the most.
I could not help question over and over , as to why we tend to do so???
I am still thinking.
All the times we speak rudely to our parents. The times we crib about our teachers. The moments spent in abusing our guardians for being strict with us. The hours spent in contemplating revenge on our coaches for making us practice so much.
I'm done with all that now.
But how I wish I hadn't.
Because I realise I love them all. More than ever. But I hurt them. That's how we are - humans.
Double faced maybe.
But I want to be sure never to do it again. Never to hurt a loved one. I won my argument in my mind.

Interesting... your argument actually sparked a thought process in my mind... I think we act cranky with the ones we love because we think we can get away with it... Each an every action of ours is judged by how far we can go with that particular person... what do you say?
Yup, We hanker about nonsense with our loved ones, something we won't dare to do elsewhere for fear of being branded as tactless, sarcastic, cacaphonic and what not..
